Welcome to . . . . us.

Welcome to the Nashville Early Music Project, a new organization dedicated to promoting early music in the Nashville area. There's a lot to learn about us and a lot to do this new season, and you are going to learn all about it if you keep coming back to us regularly. But for now we just want to say, 'hello,' and tell you about our debut season. We hope you will join us for every event. We hope you will bring your friends. We hope you will tell other people about us. Most of all, we hope you will share our love for early music and be part of our community of performers and enthusiasts. Great things are being planned for the Nashville Early Music Project and we want you to be a part of them. Check back regularly, or subscribe to us, to be kept up to date as we grow and thrive.

Our debut season:

Friday, September 3 - Crescent, Cross and Star: Spain of the Three Faiths
8:00 pm - Lipscomb's Collins Alumni Auditorium
Travel to the Iberian Peninsula for a taste of the music of the Moors of Al-Andalus, the Sephardic Jews, and the Christians of the North. Hear the sounds of Spain from the ninth century through the dawn of the Age of Discovery.

December TBA - A Merrie Christmas
Wassail and the boar's head, holly and ivy. Start off your holiday season with the sounds of Christmas from England's Golden Age.

Thursday, March 17 - The Delights of Spring
8:00 pm - Lipscomb's Collins Alumni Auditorium
Put away the winter doldrums and revel in the season of renewal with a potpurri of selections celebrating all things spring.

Friday, May 13 - Broadsides and Ballads: Street Music of 17th century England.
8:00 pm - Lipscomb's Collins Alumni Auditorium
Listen to the pop music of another century. Songs of ale and women and partying. Pop music, it seems, hasn't changed much.

Mark your calendars, check back often here and at nashvilleearlymusic.org, and join us on a tour of the sounds of ages past. Welcome to 'Early' Music City.

  1. Duff,

I just now heard about this. My email acct got hacked a while back and I had to change my email address which is probably why I missed it. If you could contact me by private message on LiveJournal (username is MKEJenkins)I like to give you my new email so I can get back in the loop

Thanks much. I look forward to hearing from you.
